#109 Lawrence the Indian 6-19-09

On Friday we went with Don and Alice and did a number of yard sales. One way to see the town. They took Frank and I back to Slick’s for lunch. This time Frank and I split a sandwich and still had lunchmeat to bring home.

After lunch we drove around to the old fort and the original old Dutch Settlement.

Lawrence the Indian is famous for saving the fort from the British. He ran and warned the American forces about the British soldiers.

So now there is a statue of him in the middle of the town. All the roads, which are very narrow, circle the statue in a round-about. If you click on the pictures you can see some of the cute Dutch homes. It is an historic area now.
