#103 Ground Zero Workshop Museum and South Pacific Show 6-3-09

Today we took the train all the way to 14th Street and met everyone to go to the Ground Zero Workshop Museum. We are getting pretty good about figuring out all this train and subway stuff! We walked around a little and had lunch before we met the kids.

This was one of the tours we had in our book. We didn’t quite know what to expect. This is put together by the only photographer allowed inside the Ground Zero Hole. Some of the artifacts and all of the pictures are from inside the hole where the towers once stood.

Things that were found as the rubble was being cleared away.

Artifacts recovered from the rubble. I’m sure each one could tell a story.

This clock stopped at the exact second that tower two collapsed. It was found in an exercise room far beneath the main floor. It is now part of this display.

This is the picture that Gary (the photographer) took of the clock, as he found it hanging on the wall.

A calendar found still intact and left on the day when the towers were attacked. Along with a phone and a piece of aluminum.

All of this was very sad and very depressing. We headed toward Greenwich Village for lunch at a Pizzeria that Laurie was told to visit. It was a very, very long walk!

On back to the hotel where we changed clothes and then took a taxi to the Lincoln Center to see the show South Pacific.

There are NO cameras allowed inside the theater. At least no photos can be taken. So all I got was the outside of the theater.

Don’t our guys look great. The show was good, but not really great, but we all enjoyed it any way. I think there was too much romance and not enough action for our guys!

Off we went to find food! We stopped at Carnigie Delui, a very famous Deli to get some sandwiches. Check out the big smile on Collins face--do you think this is enough food for him?

This is the size of one sandwich. It's even too big to take a bite of. We ended up bringing home more than half the meat!

All in all, this was a pretty good day.
