#10-10 Aubrey’s 4th birthday party

Aubrey's cake

Aubrey’s birthday was on a Wed, (4-7) but we celebrated on Saturday (4-10) with a picnic in the park at La Quinta. Above is her cake in favorite colors of pink and purple.

Aubrey enjoyed the playground!

Grandma, Aubrey and Laura (friend of Ray’s) played hop-scotch!

I can’t believe I can still jump!

Opening presents. New clothes, and noise makers, and what is in the card?

Let’s look, Grandma!

Rings for her fingers. One for each year.

And a fairy skirt!

Presents are fun, but lets get to the cake!

We all sang Happy Birthday and Aubrey tasted the frosting—it was good!

For music, we had (wild man) Alex on the drums (aka ice chest) and Aubrey with the maracas!

100_6635

While Aubrey checked out the playground, Alex looked into the facilities for the men!

Not quite sure what to do in here yet!

A perfect afternoon for a party. Everyone had a lot of fun. Aunts and cousins and grandmas and papa’s and brother and friends. Even Mom and Dad had a good time!

#10-9 Easter Vacation with Peter and Renee’

Frank’s daughter Renee’, husband Peter and their three children all spent their Easter Vacation in La Quinta at a friend’s condo. It is right in the complex with the La Quinta Hotel and Resort. Very convenient for us to go and visit. So we did, almost every day!

The map below shows where we were (top right hand corner) and where they were (lower left hand corner.) About 5 miles or less—we didn’t check for sure.

Breakfast was at the La Quinta Hotel Restaurant. Frank with daughter, Renee’, grandchildren: Bray, Lauren and Katherine. Their last day in the Desert

#10-8 Birthdays in Scottsdale, AZ 3-22 thru 3-29-10

The drive to Scottsdale, AZ from Indio, CA was beautiful. The wild flowers along the road were all in bloom. Even the cactus was blooming.

100_6545100_6544

We found a place to park the RV that was only 2 miles from where Jeff and Kirsten were staying. It is called West World, and is actually a big facility built to stable and show horses.

There were numerous lots designated for RV’s. We had 50 amp service and water at the sight and the dump was right around the corner. The fee for camping is $22.00 per night plus tax, so ended up being $24.68 a night. Not bad for being right in Scottsdale. There were not many other RV’s where we parked. During the end of the week and the weekend there was a Miniature Horse Show going on, and we could hear the loud speakers announcing the events.

The first evening we all got together at Jeff and Kirsten’s condo. Kirsten’s Mom, Chris and her husband John, Frank and I, Jeff and Kirsten—all enjoyed a nice steak dinner cooked on the Bar-B-Que by Jeff. Yummy!

100_6548

Kirsten had balloons and beer in the room when they arrived.

Check out the label on the beer that Kirsten had delivered for Jeff.

100_6551

Our first ball game. We were second row from the field, right along the first base line. Very nice.

100_6550

Mid week and the stands are not crowded, so we had great views. The White Sox played the Diamond Backs. The Sox won.

100_6553

We checked out old town Scottsdale, before we went to our next game, which was a night game. This time we were second row from the field on the third base line.

100_6560100_6561

The four guys in front of us were a hoot. They were better than the game. We were watching the Giants and the A’s. The Giants won.

100_6562

The view was great and it wasn’t that cold. It was really a fun game.

MARCH 27, 2010 (DIXIE’S BIRTHDAY)

100_6564

Today is March 27. Dixie’s 66th birthday. My only wish was to have Mexican dinner. We arrived late. The other four had a few drinks before we arrived. They were having fun! They sang happy birthday song three times.

100_6563

I had to catch up—it is my birthday so I had two Margaritas! Frank had to drive home. I tried to ride the burro home, but it wouldn’t go!

100_6567100_6566

Even Jeff tried to get it moving. No luck. Kirsten is holding him on so the burro doesn’t buck him off!

100_6565

Ah, Jeff’s 50th birthday has arrived. We all go to a A’s and Rockies game at 1:00 in the afternoon. Sun is out, slight breeze to keep us cool and plenty of cold drinks. It couldn’t have been a better day, or game. Neither team won. It was a tie! They don’t play extra innings in Spring Training. (I didn’t know that.)

MARCH 28, 2010 (JEFF’S 50th BIRTHDAY)

Off to Rustler’s Rooste Steak House. We entered via the slide. (According to the ledgend this was the way to escape to the horses if the "law" got too close.) Jeff went after us, so we could take his picture!

100_6579

Check out the “long horns” (and the cheaters on his eyes). This place was once a hideout for the rustlers that used to steal cattle and sell to the restaurants in town. At least that is the story on the menu.

100_6580

While we are waiting for our dinner, we were entertained by a guy doing magic tricks and then the balloon man came by. Kirsten got a nice wrist corsage.

100_6581

But, Jeff got a big balloon cowboy hat!

100_6583

What a great week it has been, and so much fun celebrating Jeff’s birthday with all the baseball games, dinners and sight seeing.

#10-7 Ray and Nicole Wedding, Palm Desert, CA 3-20-10

We arrived back in Indio at the Elks Lodge on Tuesday, March 9. Frank had a Dr. appointment with the Neurologist on Wed. Diane came over from Carlsbad and went with us to the Dr. We were very pleased with the Dr.’s assistant that did the evaluation. He gave us lots of information on what the causes are for the TIA’s and set Frank up with referrals to Speech Therapy and Physical therapy. He was very thorough. Diane spent the night and the next day we just did a lot of running around and enjoying her company. It is always nice to have our kids spend time with us!

Our renters moved out of the house! We will miss having them there. We spent the entire next week cleaning and repairing small items in order to get it ready for either re-renting, or whatever. Because son, Ray and soon to be wife, Nicole were getting married on March 20th, we wanted the house available for daughter Laurie and all her family to use. So, we spent lots of time at the house that week before the wedding.

Laurie and family came the day before the wedding, in two cars at different times. Work schedules dictated time of arrival. I was there to meet and greet the first arrivals and turn over the key, but the second car didn’t arrive until after midnight—I was back at the RV and sound asleep by then.

The day of the wedding, Laurie volunteered to help set up and decorate. I knew they had plenty of help for that, so I spent the morning finding a dress and getting beautiful (as much as I could for an old Great Grandma!)

The weather was perfect for a wedding!

100_6476100_6477

The wedding was held at the church Ray and Nicole attend and the reception was held in the outdoor patio next door.

That evening while Ray and Nicole were spending their honeymoon night at Morongo Casino, we all had dinner together at the house. The McBeaths, (4) The Ivisons (3) and Nicoles Mom, Mariko with Aubrey and Alex, and Frank and I. A house full, just like old times!

It was a great weekend with all the house guests leaving on Sunday. We spent the afternoon cleaning up and getting ready for our trip to Scottsdale, AZ.
