#13-4–Joe’s Party, Happy hour, Dinner at Maude and Ian’s

February wasn’t just the ‘60s Party,  We also had Joe’s party, which is a day of games and food that the owner of the park puts on for the winter visitors.  This was on the 23rd of Feb.  There was a cake walk, a tournament of LRC game, hula hoop contests and horse races.  I did the cake walk and missed by one square of getting a cake, but one of our friends won a cake and shared.  Below is the horse race.

And they are at the starting gate, Dayle is ready, and has her horses nose down ready to jump from one square to another in hope of winning!

I have a very pretty horse, but not a winner!

After games it was time to eat.  Plenty of food, and lots of folks lined up to partake of a chicken lunch served outside the main clubhouse.

The mode of transportation is either walking or driving a golf cart.  Many are lined up on the street.

John and Barb’s going away “Pot Luck and Happy hour, Feb 27th

After being in the park since Oct, John and Barb are headed back to Ohio so they can see their granddaughter play the lead in a musical at her high school.  Brrrr, it’s going to be cold, so we have a “hot” pot luck dinner during happy hour to send them off.

We didn’t eat much at the going away pot luck, as Ian and Maude had invited us and Dayle and Dave to their RV for dinner that night.  Ian set the table.  Beautiful, and it took up the entire living room.  What a great dinner Maude cooked for us.

Frank joined the picket line holding a jello shooter!  While the astronaut looked on.

A hooka and “grass” were present as well as a surprise visit from “Tricky Dick”

We had flower children, afro style hair, pig tails, head bands, tie die, fake reefers and even a “pimp” guy.  Everyone got into the spirit of the party and each had their own idea of the ‘60s era.  There was food galore, just like all our pot luck dinners, we played the newly wed game and sang karaoke till the late hours of the evening.  (remember, we are all “seniors gone wild" so 11 pm is really late!)  .

John and Barb and their crew did a great job of decorating and remembering the ‘60s.  The sign above has prices and wages, etc., of stuff during that time.
And the wall below was decorated with posters and peace signs.  Such a great party.

#13-2 Sundance RV Park, Yuma

IMG_0176IMG_0177
Super bowl Sunday started early with Mexican Coffee at John and Barb’s overlooking the wash with the foothills in the back ground.  It ended with a BBQ and watching the game on an out door TV.  The weather was great and the food delicious and the company fun.
During our stay in Yuma we join the Cactus Wren’s HR RV club and do outings with them.  This February we went to a private museum in Gadson.  The man talking with Frank has been here all his life and is a wealth of information and his home and yard are a collection of things from the local area.  His wife was the head cook of the school district and made all of us lunch.  Most of the stuff is from the 40’s and 50’s, but so unique.  He even has peacocks!

Barb, Craig and Barb

Valentine’s dinner at Julianna’s was an experience.  We had dinner reservations for 10 of us at 7 pm.  Didn’t get to eat until 9 pm.  Then we couldn’t order off the menu, as it was a special menu for Valentine’s day. The company was good!  Ian with Frank, Dixie and Maude, Craig hugging both Barb’s and Sandy between both John’s.

Dale and Betty came with Frank and I and we drove out to the Dobson Museum, in Tacna, AZ.  This couple have been collecting for over 35 years.  Tools, locks, keys, bottles, furniture, toys, crocks, and even buildings.  The entire house is a museum and then you go outside and there is a “town” set up in different buildings.  A school room, teacher’s house, barber shop, Dr.’s office, a general store still stocked with canned goods and sewing notions!  They have a functioning blacksmith shop run by an old diesel generator and acres of old tractors.  It was all quite interesting and the lady that owns it all took us on a personal tour.  Well worth the drive!
