#67 Perry, GA 3-15 thru 19, 2004

Almost all of the 50 plus coaches that attended the pre-rally in Macon, GA left at 7:30 a.m. to caravan south to Perry, GA for the big FMCA RV Rally. We didn't go with them! That is too early for this retired couple to arise. We left around 10:30 a.m. and arrived in time to have lunch in our coach. As you can see below the coaches were lined up on the grass with a "road" between them.Lots of traffic between the coaches. Late in the afternoon the day we arrived it started to sprinkle. The next two days it really rained. The "road" turned into mud. But, the 3rd day the sun came out and everything started to dry out. That was a very good thing for the 3,279 coaches that were parked in the fairgrounds for the Rally.By the 4th day the people were out in their "people movers" getting to the different seminars, to visit the vendors and to check out all the new coaches that were there for sale.

I thought the people above were really cute. She has "training" wheels on her little cart. His only has the two wheels.
Above is many of the different forms of transportation used to get around the fairgrounds. Watch out where you walk!!! Grandma's and Grandpa's on wheels.

Above picture is where the entertainment was each night. If there are over 3,000 coaches and the biggest majority have two people, I guess there must be about 5,500 or more that attend the entertainment. It is included in the rally cost, and usually is very good.
This rally, I (Dixie) volunteered to help with a computer boot camp seminar. I know I helped a few of the attendees, but I also learned from the experience. A couple who call themselves "Geeks on tour" put on the seminar. He is a hardware specialist, and her background is in teaching. They are both very good and are always in high demand at the rallys. They put on 6 seminars and the computer boot camp. Busy, busy people.
We visited the vendors a lot. It's always a good place to buy RV products that we can't find any where else.
There is also entertainment during the day in the entertainment tent that is set up for the rally. Every morning at 7 a.m. there are free donuts and coffee served in the tent. (I wouldn't know--it's still night time for me!) But I'm told that there are over 500 people who arrive to get their donuts and coffee. Some of the seminars started at 8:00 a.m. I missed those also. Any seminar I attended started at 9:45 or later!
We had a wonderful time, learned a lot more and helped a few of the vendors take home some of our money!
We pulled out about 11:00 a.m. and headed southeast to Savannah, GA for some quiet time at a GA State Park.
