On Friday, Oct 11, we went down to the field for the first time. This was the night they were doing the Glowdeo. They tether the balloons to the ground, inflate them and then in unison light the burners and make them glow. We went down early to watch them inflate the special shapes. What a treat, but what a crowd. It was estimated there were 80,000 to 100,000 people there. All ages!
Betty Jean the butterfly and Spyderpig inflating.
Aaron inflating before sunset. Joey Little Bee, Lilly Little Bee and Joelly
Look at all the people on the field as they are inflating the balloons. Must have been a challenge for the balloon crews. Everyone had to leave the field when it got dark and they started the glow.
The announcer would count down from 10 and the balloonists would fire off their burners. Either an all glow, or a twinkle glow.
Lots of pictures taken. It was an AWESOME sight. Don’t you just love Betty Jean the Butterfly?
The next day we watched some of the special shapes land in the landing field in front of the RV;s Watching the crews get those big balloons down and deflated was fascinating.
Tic Toc flying, turning, landing and deflating. From the size of the people you can see just how big Tic Toc is, and you can see his two faces!
Sunday, Oct 13 is the last ascension. So again I am out taking pictures in the morning. I took over 300 pictures and videos and will have a good time looking back over our time at the Fiesta.
No popping of the balloons. They will return next year. I hope some of our friends can enjoy a real visit to this wonderful event. Next year will be year 43. This years event was named Enchanted Sunrise. Next year ???
