We camped at a Passport America campground near Tuttle, ID. Drove down into the valley and had dinner in Hagerman. We are just a few miles outside of Twin Falls, ID. We haven’t been here before, so decided to stay a couple of nights and take in a few sights.
Our first stop was the Visitor Center where the Perrine Bridge over look is located. The snake river is below.
On our way to visit Shoshone Falls, I took the picture above of some of the natural falls coming off the mountains. Most of these are spring fed and even though it is the end of Sept. there is a lot of water still coming off the mountains.
Shoshone Falls now. The dam has backed up the water and the flow is restricted during the week, so only part of the water is coming down the falls. Check out the boat full of people at the foot of the falls. That is a long way down.
The above photograph is what the falls looked like before the dam was put in.
The first picture is the lake created behind the Twin Falltos taken as we drive down into the canyon view the falls. Again the falls are being restricted by the dam. Water from these two dams are used for irrigation in the area and also for recreation.
Our next stop is to visit Balance rock. It is starting to rain a little, but there is a shelter right off the road where we stop and take pictures. We took the picture on the right looking through the binoculars. The rock is supported on a 3’ base. It is an amazing sight.
Leaving Twin falls and heading back to our RV. We leave tomorrow morning for Salt Lake City, Utah.
Thunder clouds, rain and lightning for this evenings forecast. We are snug in our RV and sleep through the storms.
