#12-17 NYC Central Park 11-3-2012

We are missing Laurie, Face Time just isn’t the same—and I think Laurie is missing her grand kids, so we made reservations to fly to CT and spend a long weekend with her in the city.  Just Rachel, the kids and Great Gramma Dixie.  We had a very interesting flight out of LAX.  First Rachel’s reservations weren’t confirmed and we had to take whatever seats were available, so we didn’t get to sit together.  We almost missed the plane because the shuttle from the parking to the airport didn’t get there until 43 minutes before the plane left.  Then we were too late by 2 minutes to check in the bags.  So had to have a special United agent get our bags on the plane, then special boarding passes had to be printed for Rachel and the kids.  Then had to get put up in front of the line for security check in and almost had to run to the plane by the time we put on shoes and coats, etc.  We were the last to board the plane.  Then Eldon and Rachel’s seats were middle seats in two different rows, so she had to plead with other passengers to trade seats so she could sit with both her kids.  I was 20 rows back!  Needless to say it was a long flight, but Adele did come and sit with me for a while!
We finally arrived in Stamford, NJ and went directly to Laurie’s apartment where she is living for the three months she is going to be in NJ (maybe longer?)  This is the headquarters of Starwood and a great opportunity for her to work directly with the Vice Presidents.  She had a car waiting at the airport for us and it was so nice to sit back and let someone else figure out how to get to the apartment!

Eldon setting at the coffee table in the living room.  The view at night out the living room window.  The bedroom window has the same view.  This is the Trump Parc apartments in Stamford.  We are on the 9th floor.
The next morning we were up and out to visit NYC.

The train ride to Central Park in New York City.  Eldon enjoyed it.  Took us about an hour to get into the City.
The weather was cool, but not freezing.  My new heavy coat felt good by the evening.  And even though the children’s zoo was closed we had a nice time in the zoo seeing the animals and riding on the carrousel.

Of course we saw many carriages and even people on the ice skating rink.  It was a really fun day in the park.

Eldon thanking his mommy for the train ride and the fun day at the park.  Adele just chilling on the train ride home.

A well deserved nap when we got back to the apt.

Adele did wake up and had her clothes changed (again about 4 or 5 times a day), then posed for her picture in her “red hat” outfit.  Is she too young to join?  Gramma Dixie is teaching her to roll over.  She is a fast learner!

Sunset from the bedroom window.  There is a creek running right below the apartments and they are expanding the park.  It has live geese swimming and waddling around on the grass.  Quite nice.  We are walking distance from a nice Super Target where we can buy groceries.  This Target is actually on the 4th and 5th floor of the building.  Glad there was an elevator to get our groceries up and down the four flights!
