#141 8-25-09 Palm Desert, La Quinta, CA and Elkhart, IN

We met the families on Sunday morning at the local Mexican restaurant for brunch. There were about 25 of us. Now we have had "In N out Burger" and Mexican Food twice! We are happy.

The rest of the day we spent opening the presents and taking them to Rachel and Allie’s house. I was so tired I forgot to take pictures! Sorry.

Monday was spent taking everything down and putting it away. Dishes, Arbors, chairs, stage, tablecloths, candles, candy, etc. It took most of the day. Allie’s Mom and Grandpa left Monday, so he took them to the airport. They are from Texas.

Everyone had to be at work on Tues. and we had an appointment in Palm Desert at 10:30 am. So we headed to the desert and some really warm weather. 106 degrees! Nice sunny day, and no humidity. We made it to our appointment, signed papers and saw our tenants, had lunch with our friend, Phyllis.

Frank dropped me off at son Ray’s while he went to the eye Dr. We all had BBQ dinner and the kids went swimming before dinner.

Aubrey is just 3 1/2 and Alex is only 22 months old. Both are really amazing swimmers.

Alex with his water wings is fearless. He jump off the side of the pool, and swims to the steps.

He is one proud boy!

Aubrey tells Grandma and Papa to watch her. She doesn’t need any water wings! She even swims under water and gets coins off the bottom!

We left the desert about 8:00 pm in order to get to LAX for our Red-Eye flight back to South Bend, IN. I couldn’t believe it, but the plane was 98% full! I thought I’d go right to sleep, but it was very tight in the seats and no place to put my feet with Gidget under the seat in front of me. She slept fine! We had to change planes in Chicago and got on a little plane to South Bend. There were only 7 of us on the plane and I went right to sleep, before the plane took off!

We got into the airport and had to drive about 20 miles back to Elkhart to pick up the RV. By the time we got all the food loaded back into the RV and unpacked the owner of the shop told us to just spend the night out front. We needed to sleep!

We spent the next day and night again at Elkhart RV Campground catching up on our sleep,
