We arrived at Don and Alice’s in the afternoon. Don had a place all fixed up for us to park our RV in their driveway. As you can see it looks like a mini RV park. Their home is in a beautiful setting with big trees all around. In this part of the country there aren’t fences between the homes, so it all looks like a big park with houses. There was enough room in the driveway for our motor home to park, our car in front, and walking room in the rear to get into and out of the house. Don’s RV is parked beside the garage. The cars park outside and while we were there, they parked on the grass and in front of their RV. Very nice. Very quiet. No trains.
Frank flew out of Albany, NY airport to San Diego on the 10th to attend his grandson, Cameron’s HS graduation. We drove him to the airport, which is just a few miles from their home.
The next day we drove around and did a few chores—banking, post office and pharmacy, etc. They are both good guides and we found everything we needed to. I even got a hair cut!
Friday is yard sale day, so off we went at 9:00 am. It is fun to see what the Eastern part of the US puts out in their garage sales. Each of us found things we just couldn’t do without! While we were out the next day—Saturday, we stopped by the Central Park in town.
This is the rose garden part of the park. It is all tended and supported by volunteers and their fund raising efforts. Above are the roses with azaleas in the background. The sculpture is a Chinese character meaning rose.
There are many weddings and functions held here at the park and many times the stone bridge is used for pictures.
The album has close ups of the roses and the name of one of the newer roses. These are all Jackson Perkins Roses.
Looking across the street from the rose garden down the new approach from the road is a typical colonial style home of the area.
After going to many yard sales, we were hungry and Don and Alice took me to a bar. The name was Slick’s. We couldn’t believe the size of the sandwiches, so Don took a couple of pictures. I had to take some of the meat out of my sandwich just so I could take a bite!
This is Alice’s sandwich. A beautiful rare roast beef, sliced thin. Yummy.
While we were eating and having a great time going through other peoples stuff, Frank was in Carlsbad, CA attending Cameron’s Graduation party. Above from left to right is Cameron’s Grammie Bev, Uncle Craig, and Aunt Renee’. Trying to get him to smile is is Mother Diane.
Frank got Cameron a lucky $1.00 bill when we were in Washington, DC at the engravers. I think he like the $1.00, but probably the $20’s in back of it more.
Rutgers will be his new home in the Fall. Congratulations, Cameron.
