Frank is standing on this beach of pure white sand. The sand feels like sugar. It is mostly ground up shells. Today was clear, but cold (to us), so not many people on the beach. The water is so blue, no wonder this is such a resort destination.
How would you like to live right on the beach? If so, you would have to build your home on stilts as high as the county regulations require. That means walking up and down all those steps every time you go away from the house. Wow! Nothing can be built under the house, I guess you could park your car there. This is only one of the many homes we saw being rebuilt along the coast. We stopped at the famous Chowder House to have lunch. I'm being devoured by a giant Clam!
Above are Trisha and Rex in front of the Chowder House where we had lunch. The shrimp boat could be taken out anytime, but for now it is beached high and dry next to the restaurant. We had so much to eat for lunch, the portions are gigantic, that we ended up skipping dinner!
After lunch we headed to Old Town Pensacola. It is the oldest town in the US. It was first settled by the Spanish. The preservation group brings in children and they actually cook outside on the outdoor fire pits and ovens. We went through 3 different homes. Our guide was dressed in period costume and was very knowledgeable about each of the homes and the church we went through.
This was a very beautiful canopy bed in the master bedroom. Lots of turned wood.

This is the kitchen stove. At least this kitchen was inside the home. I'm sure with a wood stove things didn't stay nice and white for long!
The azaleas are just starting to bloom. Spring is on the way. Even though the weather was on the cool side, the sun was shinning and we were comfortable with a light jacket.
