Driving to the Bayou Segnette State Park just outside New Orleans we had to go by lots and lots of swamp land. Of course being from the desert--this is unbelievable. Trees and grass growing right out of the water. (Glad it's not summer with all those mosquitoes!)
We had dinner with friends we met in the Rio Grande Valley, Charles and Loyce on Friday. We even celebrated his birthday with cake and fresh strawberries we had bought at a roadside stand. We will see them again in Perry, GA. Charles helps with the parking of the RV's--so he is a busy man the first few days of the rally.
Saturday morning we went to du Monde for Beignets and Chicory Coffee a laite. The place is always packed! Across the street is the building with the familiar balcony and all the wrought iron work. While we ate breakfast we watched the mime across the street.
Walking in the French Quarter we see the hanging baskets, and the old fashioned lanterns. There is so much ambiance in the French Quarter.
The picture above is a park right in the middle of the French Quarter. As you can see we even had a short rain shower during our morning walk.
We got our first parking ticket here! The loading zone sign was turned sideways and we parked thinking we were in an area where it was legal. As you can see there isn't any paint on the curb. Oh Well, it cost us the same amount as when we had to pay to park in San Francisco.
