The anniversary was documented on a DVD that was played all during the event.
The buffet was provided by Sherm's Deli and was delicious.
Above in the album is the board President, Craig Herkimer, past board member and long time resident, Charlie Ash, original builder, Dick Oliphant, Mayor of Palm Desert, Jean Benson. And presenting Mayor Benson with a plaque is Bob Gonia, who is the Events Coordinator and did most of the information gathering for this event.
It was a very beautiful and exciting time for the Homeowners Association. How things have changed, and how far ahead of it’s time this complex was when it was built.
We had a wonderful time visiting neighbors and friends. We stayed the weekend with the manager of the homeowner’s association, Phyllis Harkins, her guest Millie and her Chihuahua, Sam. Below is a picture of Sam and Gidget on Dixie’s lap. They got along really well, even though Gidget ate all Sam’s food!
We spent Sunday evening with our son, Ray and grandchildren, Aubrey and A.J. This was their first visit to Chuck E Cheese. Aubrey was off playing on the games and rides, and all I could get was one picture of AJ on the little merry go round.
Monday was a full day. We drove to Loma Linda (west on I-10) to the Vet’s Hospital at noon for Frank, then back through the Coachella Valley and on to Yuma all in one day. It was dark when we arrived back at the RV, and both of us were tired Seniors!
