We arrived in Yuma on the 24th of Jan. We pulled into Sundance RV Park and parked on Prickly Pear street along with a street full of other RVers. The first people we met were John and Barb Parent from Alberta, Canada. They introduced us to John and Barb Perry from Ohio. We also met our neighbors across the street, John and Shirley, from Washington State. So we are really confused! By the end of the day we had been introduced to most of the people on the street. What a friendly bunch. We spent the next day getting set up, finding out what was happening in the park, doing laundry and some house cleaning. Everything needed to be dusted and cleaned after spending 4 days at Quartzsite, AZ.
The 26th of Ja was Frank’s 83rd birthday. While he fixed our cocktails, I went down to “the Digby’s,” (Brother and sisters, who are all parked together about 10 spaces away. They were all gathered for Happy Hour and when I told them it was Frank’s birthday, everyone picked up their chairs and came down to our space and we had a party! Then Frank and I went to Olive Garden for his birthday dinner. That was on a Thursday.
The following evening we joined other members of the Park for a Luau at the clubhouse. There were about 150 people for dinner and about half or more stayed for the dance after dinner. We met two different couples that had been married here in the park in the last two weeks. What is going on with this older generation! We had a fun time and were able to just walk home to ore Coach.
The next evening-Saturday night, was the “street” Luau at the “upper clubhouse, which is a double wide mobile home with the dividers taken out. Below are some pictures from that Luau. These are party animals!!
We do a lot of eating and drinking! Everyone is a good cook. John, from Ohio, and I made snow (crushed ice) for the pina coladas. The two Barb’s have been working on this for the past year. They pick up decorations and stuff all year and bring it down. They have known each other for a few years, having met here at Sundance!
Aren’t the paper plates great. They are in the shape of Hawaiian shirts. Barb said she picked them up in Indiana.
Below is a picture of Barb (from Alberta), the hair is a small hula skirt.
I’m not sure who the guy is in the hula skirt, but as you can see we all have a really good time.
Happy hour during the week and it was Barb’s (from Ohio) birthday. Check out the instant plant she received for her birthday. Just add water and it grows immediately.
Last weekend in January and we had a super bowl party. Same bunch, different weekend. I didn’t take pictures. This time Marg and Ron were in charge. There were 3 tv’s set up in the upper clubhouse. Ron and Marg got fried chicken for everyone and we all pitched in on cost and then brought something for the pot luck. I had taken a small sample of the “Almond toffee candy” that I make at Christmas to a happy hour one afternoon, so I promised to make it for Super Bowl Party. Marg locked it up in the pick-up to keep it away from Barb (from Alberta). Barb loves the candy, and when I made it I let her watch and gave her the recipe. So now the famous candy will be made in Canada!!! As usual we all ate well and had a fun time. The weather is so nice this time of the year that we all live outside most of the time.
